Project Description: Full interior renovations to a three-story 1960’s era modern building in Edmonton’slegislative district for single tenant occupancy by the Alberta Recycling Management Authority. The project was to provide a multi-functional adaptive workspace for ARMA staff as well as spaces to meet with government and industry partners and to showcase ARMA’s role in Alberta’s sustainability story.
Key Challenges: To adapt a dated building and its three separated floor plates into a single cohesive space focusing on flexible interchangeability, and featuring sustainable finishes and products throughout. Signage and visual displays have been integrated into the building’s entry and stairwells making a feature of these spaces and reinforcing ARMA’s public messaging.
Despite extensive audio and IT requirements (important to ARMA’s role communicating and liaising with the community), fiscal responsibility and transparency was paramount to the non-profit organization and necessitated that all furnishings, finishes, and product selections be made judiciously.
